While the present case count for Ebola in the U.S. and the likelihood of a significant outbreak of the disease both remain extremely low, out of an abundance of caution and to support the health and safety of our patients and staff, we have developed Ebola screening protocols and patient education materials that you can expect to see and hear about as you visit or call our practices.
CALL US FIRST
Should you or a family member who is a patient meet any of the criteria below, please call us first. We can triage your needs and then direct you to the most appropriate care setting as quickly as possible.
Please call the office if in the past 21 days…
- You have traveled from Africa (Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea) OR
- You have been in direct contact with someone who has traveled to these countries in the past 21 days AND
- You are experiencing any of these symptoms: fever, muscle or joint aches, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, or unexplained bleeding
When you call to schedule certain types of appointments, we will ask you these same questions about your own recent travel, the recent travel of your direct contacts, and whether you are experiencing any of the above symptoms. Thank you in advance for answering these questions as carefully and thoroughly as possible.
In the coming days and weeks, you’ll also see posters in our practices with this same message to inform patients and visitors of similar in-practice screening procedures. You can also visit our website for more general information about Ebola including links to reliable sources such as the Centers for Disease Control.
